National Hurricane Preparedness Week May 24th – 30th

Who is affected by Hurricanes in Florida?

When you live near coastal areas such as New Smyrna Beach, Edgewater, Oak Hill,  Daytona Beach, Port Orange, Ormond Beach and anywhere near a body of water you have to be prepared for Hurricane Season.  If you are a home owner, have a business or even if you are just a “snow bird” (a term of endearment for the people that live here during the cooler months and go up north for the summer and fall months), you must be ready from June to November. This is the time when Hurricanes and Storms are likely to hit Florida.

Here are steps you can take to prepare for the storms ahead:

Stay informed with your local news channel, website or National Hurricane Center. If you have a smart phone simply download a Hurricane alert app that will notify you if there is strong incoming weather instantly. If you are alone make sure you contact a neighbor or relative to let them know you are alone in case of emergency. Below is a checklist for you to use for more information.
